Review on Decision Making and Decision-Making Theories

Abstract

Decision-making is one of the most important processes in management and organization. It helps better utilization of resources more effectively and efficiently. Organizational aims and goals can be achieved if informed decisions are made by the decision-makers thus requiring a set of principles that will guide the decision makers in making decision known as decision making theories. This review paper looked at decision making, types, levels and complimentary theories in relation to decision making. The paper recommends cognitive decision-making theory as the best theory to adopt by every manager before making any decision, and also, every decision to be taken by a manager should look at the context and other variables before adopting any theory into a particular situation or context, thereby allowing business growth. And the failure and growth of an organization count on the quality of the decisions made. But the quality depends on the data provided which will provide a matrix for the decision.
